Each festival, Galvanize Sheffield commissions a recent UK graduate to create a new piece for Sheffield’s Civic Collection. In 2013 the award went to Daniel Woodford, a 2013 graduate of the Royal College of Art, London.
‘Daniel has crafted a beautiful vessel that will be presented to The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Vickie Priestley, to be used at civic functions. The new piece will then be displayed alongside other items from the Civic Collection for everyone to see.’
With special thanks to The J G Graves Charitable Trust who generously fund this commission.

My proposal was to make a freestanding vessel that was classical in shape but combined The Beast Will Out organic, flowing, spiralling forms in metal - Exploring the limitless nature of Baroque and Rococo Scroll work into a new visual dialogue. Inside the vessel hung a ring made for The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Vickie Priestley.
